| My text says it’s sent but my friend hasn’t received it. | After you send your text message, the delivery status is displayed in grey to the left of the message box. When the status is “delivered”, it means the message has reached the recipient’s phone. If the status is “sent”, it means that the message has been sent to the network but has not yet been delivered. Skype will continue to try and deliver a sent message for 24 hours. If we cannot send the message, the SMS text message charge will be automatically refunded to your balance.

| My text says it’s delivered but my friend hasn’t received it. | Unfortunately, we can’t always guarantee that the correct delivery message is displayed in Skype. SMS text message delivery reports are usually issued by the recipient's network operator and then forwarded to Skype, so we have no means to verify the validity of the delivery reports we receive. Due to the technical peculiarities of the US market, incorrect delivery status messages may occur more often when sending SMS text messages to US cell phones. |
| I got an error after I sent an SMS text message. | If one of these error messages is displayed next to the message box, resolve it as follows: - Error “resend this message”: There was a delivery failure. Click resend this message to try sending the message again.
- Error “Insufficient Credit”: You do not have enough Skype Credit to send the SMS text message. You need to buy some Skype Credit and then send the message again.
- Error “Number incorrect” – There is something wrong with the number, such as an incorrect country code, or the phone is not text-enabled. Check the number and dial again.
If you’re sending a text to someone located in the USA, only the following carriers support receiving Skype SMS text messages: Alltel, AT&T, Cellular One Dobson, Cellular South, Centennial, Cincinnati Bell, Nextel, Ntelos, Sprint, T-Mobile, Unicel, U.S. Cellular®, Verizon Wireless, Virgin Mobile USA.
In addition to the usual reasons, message delivery failures may also be due to the new restrictions on sending SMS to US numbers. Please ensure that you're complying with the latest requirements, which include having a US Skype Number set up as your caller ID if you're attempting to text US numbers. Refunds: Users who were charged for SMS that were not delivered due to this block will receive refunds. |
| I sent an SMS text message to my friend but they can’t reply. | When you send an SMS text message from Skype, the recipient will see the first 11 characters of your Skype Name and they won’t be able to reply to your SMS text message.
To resolve this, you need to change the sender ID so it displays your mobile number instead of your Skype Name. The recipient will then be able to reply to your SMS text message and their reply will be sent to your mobile (not to Skype). |
| My friends are not able to send SMS text messages to my Skype Number. | Currrently, it’s not possible to send SMS text messages to Skype Numbers. Your friends can reach you through SMS text messages on any mobile or text-enabled landline number.

| I’m receiving unwanted SMS text messages from someone on Skype. | If you want to opt out of receiving SMS text messages from Skype, text the word “STOP” to 75973. This will prevent all SMS text messages sent by anyone using Skype from being sent to your mobile phone. Unfortunately, it’s not possible to stop receiving SMS text messages from specific people.
