What do I need to use Skype on my computer?

All you need to get up and running with Skype is:

  • an internet connection – broadband is best
  • speakers and a microphone – built-in or separate
  • a webcam to make video calls
  • the Skype application

Most computers have built-in microphones and speakers, but you will get much better audio quality if you buy a headset or handset. You can purchase one at the Skype shop.

The Skype shop contains devices and accessories that are designed to enhance your calling and video experience. You’ll find headsets, webcams and phones that are all certified to work with Skype.
