What do I need to use Skype on my computer?

All you need to get up and running with Skype is:

  • an internet connection – broadband is best
  • speakers and a microphone – built-in or separate
  • a webcam to make video calls
  • the Skype application

Most computers have built-in microphones and speakers, but you will get much better audio quality if you buy a headset or handset.
