How do I edit my Skype profile, mood message and status on my Verizon phone?

This FAQ will help you set up your profile, mood message and status using Skype on your mobile phone.

How do I set my status?

Your status lets your Skype contacts know whether you are available to have a conversation. A status symbol is displayed next to a contact’s name in the contact list.

The contact is online and free to talk.
The contact is online, but away from Skype, so they might not pick up.
The contact is online, but busy, so you may want to try them later.

To learn how to set your status, select your phone from the list below:

Android

  1. Sign in to Skype.
  2. Select the Contacts tab.
  3. Press the Menu button.
  4. Select Change Status and choose from one of the following statuses:

BlackBerry

  1. Sign in to Skype.
  2. Select  the tab.
  3. Press the Menu button.
  4. Select Change Status and choose from one of the following statuses:

Windows Phone:

  1. Sign in to Skype.
  2. Select the Contacts tab.
  3. Tap the  bubble and select My Info.
  4. Select Change Status and choose from one of the following statuses:

Brew:

  1. Sign in to Skype.
  2. On the home page, select Status. You will see the home page when you first sign in. If you have already selected another tab, use the phone’s back button to return to the home page.
  3. Choose from one of the following statuses:

How do I edit my profile?

In your profile, you can add personal information about yourself to share over Skype. This includes information such as your birthday, your age and the country you live in. You can also add your mobile/cell, office and home phone numbers to your profile to make it easier for your contacts to call you from Skype.

To learn how to edit your profile, select your phone from the list below:

Android

  1. Sign in to Skype.
  2. Select the Contacts tab.
  3. Press the Menu button.
  4. Select Edit profile.

BlackBerry

  1. Sign in to Skype.
  2. Select the  tab.
  3. Edit your profile details, and when you’re finished, select Save.

Windows Phone

  1. Sign in to Skype.
  2. Select the Contacts tab.
  3. Tap the  bubble and select My Info.
  4. Select Edit My Profile.
  5. Edit your profile details, and when you’re finished, tap OK.

Brew

  1. Sign in to Skype.
  2. On the home page, select My Info. You will see the home page when you first sign in. If you have already selected another tab, use the phone’s back button to return to the home page.
  3. Select Edit My Profile.
  4. Edit your profile details, and when you’re finished, select Save.

How do I edit my mood message?

A mood message lets your contacts know how you’re feeling, what you’re thinking or what you’re up to. It’s also a great way to share links to websites, videos and music.

To learn how to edit your mood message, select your phone from the list below:

Android

  1. Sign in to Skype.
  2. Select the Contacts tab.
  3. Press the Menu button.
  4. Select Set mood.
  5. Type your mood message then tap Set to display it.

You can also set your location as your mood message. To do this, instead of typing in a message, tap  The feature works using GPS, and will automatically determine your location.

BlackBerry

  1. Sign in to Skype.
  2. Select the tab.
  3. Type your mood message then press Enter to display it.

Windows Phone

  1. Sign in to Skype.
  2. Select the Contacts tab.
  3. Tap the  bubble and select My Info.
  4. Select Set Mood Message.
  5. Type your mood message then tap OK to display it.

Brew

  1. Sign in to Skype.
  2. On the home page, select My Info. You will see the home page when you first sign in. If you have already selected another tab, use the phone’s back button to return to the home page.
  3. Select Mood message.
  4. Type your mood message then tap OK to display it.
