How do I update my credit card or other payment method?

You can easily add a new payment method to your Skype account, or delete a stored payment method.

If your payment method is about to expire, you'll be notified when you sign in to your Skype account.

Note: When you add a new credit or debit card, we may use 3D Secure to protect your card from unauthorized use, and you may be directed to your bank to verify your identity.

Adding a payment method to your account

To add PayPal, a credit card or debit card to your account:

  1. Sign in to your account at skype.com.
  2. Scroll to the bottom of the page and, under Account details, select Stored payment details.

  3. Click the blue plus  to add a payment method.
  4. Select the payment method you want to add.

If you choose Pay by card, enter the card details, check the box to agree to the Skype Terms of Use and Privacy Policy, then click Continue. You may be asked for additional security information (Verified by Visa or MasterCard SecureCode). Your card is saved as a payment method for future use. Your credit card details are stored securely.

If you choose PayPal, check the box to agree to the Skype Terms of Use and Privacy Policy, then click Continue. Enter your PayPal password and click Log in, then click Agree and pay. PayPal is saved as a payment method for future use.

After you've added a new payment method, if you have any recurring payments set up (like a subscription or Auto-recharge), you need to associate your new payment method with the recurring payment. Follow the instructions below to change the payment method for your recurring payment.

Changing the payment method for your recurring payment

Recurring payments for subscriptions and Auto-recharge are taken automatically from your chosen payment method. If you want to change your payment method (for example, because your credit card has expired) you can do this in your account.

  1. Sign in to your account on skype.com.
  2. Under your profile picture, click the subscription you want to change the payment method for.

  3. Click Change payment method.

  4. Select a different payment method and click Update. If you don't have another payment method stored, follow the instructions above to add a new payment method.

Deleting a payment method

You can delete a credit card if you’ve used it to buy Skype Credit, but you can’t delete a card that is being used for recurring payments (a subscription or Auto-recharge). You have to cancel the recurring payment first.

To delete a credit card:

  1. Sign in to your account at skype.com.
  2. Scroll to the bottom of the page and, under Account details, select Stored payment details.
  3. Next to the credit card you want to delete, click Delete.

  1. On the confirmation page, click Delete.

You can't delete PayPal as your payment method.
