How do I manage Caller ID on a SIP Profile?

This FAQ contains instructions on how to set up a Caller ID on a SIP Profile, how to change the Caller ID and how to remove the Caller ID.

You can use a Skype Number as a SIP Profile’s Caller ID. Alternatively, you can use a landline number, as long as you own and control the number, and your company has been verified by Skype.

Setting up Caller ID on a SIP Profile

To set up Caller ID for a SIP Profile:

  1. Sign in to Skype Manager™.
  2. Click Features in the toolbar.
  3. In the Features menu on the left, click Skype Connect™.
  4. Scroll to the SIP Profile to which you want to add a Caller ID and click View profile.
  5. Click Set up Caller ID.

  6. If you want to buy a Skype Number to use as Caller ID, click Buy a Skype Number and follow the instructions to purchase a Skype Number. Once the purchase is complete, the Skype Number is assigned to the SIP Profile and selected as Caller ID.

    If you want to use an existing Skype Number, click Use a Skype Number and select the Skype Number required from the drop-down list displayed.

    If you want to use a landline number, click Use a landline number and enter the landline number that you want to use in the field displayed. You are only authorized to use landline numbers contracted for use by your company and that are associated with your PBX. Use of a number that is not allocated to your company and associated with your PBX shall constitute a material breach of agreement with Skype and may result in criminal and civil liability to you and your company.

    If you want to use a landline number and your company has not been verified, click Get your company verified and follow the instructions.

  7. Click Save Settings.

Changing Caller ID on a SIP Profile

To change a SIP Profile’s Caller ID to a different number:

  1. Display the SIP Profile whose Caller ID you want to change.
  2. Click anywhere within the Caller ID row.
  3. Click Change Caller ID.
  4. Select the number required from the drop-down list displayed.

    Be aware that if your company has been verified and you have both landline numbers and Skype Numbers available for selection, Skype Numbers are marked as “Skype Numbers” in the drop-down list.
     
  5. Click Save Settings.

Removing Caller ID from a SIP Profile

To remove a SIP Profile’s Caller ID:

  1. Display the SIP Profile whose Caller ID you want to change.
  2. Click anywhere within the Caller ID row.

    The row under the number that Caller ID is set to with options to Change or Disable the Caller ID.

  3. Click Disable Caller ID.
