Help Skype for TV

What happens to incoming Skype calls if I’m watching TV or my TV is off?

Important update: Skype for TV is no longer available. Please sign into Skype on your computer, phone, tablet or browser to keep in touch with friends and family for free.

Most TV models allow you to receive Skype calls while watching TV. If you are watching TV and someone calls you on Skype, an alert pops up. You can accept or decline the call using your remote. On some devices, if you decide to answer the call, you won’t be able to continue watching the program, but you can resume watching as soon as your call has finished.

When you turn your TV off, your Skype status will automatically change to “Offline”, so you won’t be able to receive any calls. If you have Skype’s call forwarding or Voice Messaging features enabled, then any incoming calls will be forwarded either to your phone or the voicemail that you set up on your computer.

Remember, you’ll need a little Skype Credit or a subscription to call landlines, mobiles and to forward calls.

Find out more about call forwarding.
