The Skype application is free to download, but mobile operator charges may apply if you use a mobile data connection. Skype supports all Android phones and tablets as long as they meet the minimum requirements.
Download Skype for Android phones:
Skype for Android phones is currently available in two versions – Skype 3.2 for devices running Android 2.1 and 2.2, and Skype 4 for devices running Android 2.3 and higher.
To get Skype on your device, visit skype.com from your mobile browser and download Skype from Google Play.
Alternatively, go directly to Google Play and search for Skype. The version of Android running on your device will be recognized automatically and you’ll see only the version of Skype that can be used on your phone.
Download Skype for Android tablets:
The latest version of Skype for tablets is 3.2. We are working hard to bring a new version of Skype for Android tablets soon.
To get Skype on your tablet, visit skype.com on your handset and download Skype from Google Play. Alternatively, go directly to Google Play, search for Skype and download the application to your handset.
After you download Skype, it’s ready to run – there’s no additional installation process. You can find Skype in the list of all applications, but you can always place it on your home screen to find it easier.

If you are running Android 2.2 or higher, then you can install Skype onto your SD card. You can either do this directly or, if you have already downloaded Skype to the phone’s internal memory, you can move the application to your SD card. The steps may differ for each device.
