What features does Skype on my mobile phone support?

This FAQ is for customers who are with one of Skype’s following mobile partners:

  • Verizon
  • au on KDDI

If you are not with one of Skype’s mobile partners, please visit the support homepage and select your device under Skype for Mobile, where you will find help and support for other Android phones, as well as for iPhone and Symbian.

Skype supports the following features:

  • Making Skype-to-Skype calls
  • Sending instant messages
  • Calling mobile and landline numbers abroad (requires a little Skype Credit or an appropriate subscription)
  • Managing your status, mood messages and profile information
  • Retrieving your Skype voice messages (not available on Symbian or JAVA ME handsets)
  • Participating in Skype group calls
  • Running in background mode (not available on Symbian or JAVA ME handsets)
  • Importing your device’s phonebook contacts to your Skype contact list
  • Sending and receiving files (Android and BlackBerry® for KDDI only)

Skype does not support:

  • Receiving calls to your Skype Number
  • Calling domestic mobile and landline numbers
  • Sending and receiving SMS messages
  • Making Skype video calls
  • Hosting Skype group calls
