Yes, it does. If you use Skype with a WiFi connection, then Skype-to-Skype calls are free. You can also use Skype over 3G or 4G networks; however, we advise having an unlimited data plan to avoid any extra data charges.
Extra operator charges may apply when using a mobile data connection abroad. We recommend talking to your mobile operator before using your data connection while roaming.
You can easily join Skype by creating a new Skype account. Simply go to Settings > Connectivity > VoIP and IM accounts and select New > Skype > Register new account. You’ll be asked to create a unique Skype name and create a password, and enter some other details. Once you’re all signed up, you’ll be able to sign in and start using Skype on your Nokia N900 straight away – simple.
If you already have a Skype account, go to Settings > Connectivity > VoIP and IM accounts and select New > Skype. Simply enter your Skype Name and password to sign in and you can start using Skype on your Nokia N900.
Yes. To search for and add Skype contacts directly to your Nokia N900 contact list, follow these steps:
To make a Skype-to-Skype call, simply go to Contacts, select the Skype contact you’d like to call and tap Skype call.
To start a video call, go to Contacts, select a Skype contact and tap Skype video call.
If you are already in a voice call, then you can switch to a video call at any time by tapping Call > Turn on video. You can also disable your camera by tapping Camera.
Video calling works over both WiFi and 3G or 4G connection – however, to avoid additional data charges, we recommend an unlimited data plan if you’re using Skype video calls over 3G or 4G networks.
Remember, you can only start Skype-to-Skype video calls with a contact who is using either a Nokia N900 or Skype 4.2 (or above) for Windows. Unfortunately, it’s not currently possible to make video calls to or receive video calls from Skype on a Panasonic TV, iPhone or Mac.
