Why does Skype on my iOS device keep crashing?

Skype on your iOS device may be crashing due to compatibility issues with the Skype application and the iOS version you are running on your device.

The most recent version of Skype for iPhone / iPad requires iOS 4.3 and later to be installed on your iOS device. It is recommended that you upgrade to the latest version of iOS available for your device and download the newest version of Skype from the Apple App Store.

Download the latest version of Skype*.

If you have both the Skype for iPhone and Skype for iPad applications on your iPad, your device may crash.

To delete the Skype for iPhone app:

  1. Press and hold the existing app on your home screen until the icon begins to shake and an x appears in the corner of the Skype icon.
  2. Release the icon and tap x to uninstall the application.

You can then download the Skype for iPad app from the App Store.

Skype does not support jailbroken iOS devices, and Skype is not responsible for errors or crashes which result from modifications to iOS.
