When you’re on the move and need to browse the internet, you can use Skype WiFi. It allows you to connect to the internet at public WiFi hotspots around the world using your Skype Credit as payment.
It’s easy to start using the Skype WiFi. You just need to make sure you have the latest version of Skype and you’ll be able to get online even if you don’t have an account with the hotspot provider detected. You’ll only need a little Skype Credit.
Don’t worry if you haven’t already purchased Skype Credit, you’ll be able to do this through Skype WiFi.
Connecting to the internet using Skype WiFi
It’s easy to connect with Skype WiFi:
- Sign in to Skype.
- When near a public WiFi hotspot that is compatible with Skype WiFi, a message box will appear. If you don’t see this message box, click Window > Skype WiFi.
- In the message box, you can see the Skype WiFi connection price per minute. To use your Skype Credit to connect to the hotspot, click Connect.
Or, if you have an account with the hotspot provider detected by Skype WiFi, select I have an account with this provider, enter your username and password, and click Connect.
By default, the connection time is set to 30 minutes. You can extend it to 60 or 120 minutes for the next time you connect by clicking the option icon .
- Once connected, you can make Skype calls, surf the internet or check your email. There are no data limits, you’re simply charged by the minute if you’re connected using your Skype Credit.
- To end your session, click Window > Skype WiFi. A window with your remaining minutes appears. Rate the hotspot using the stars, then click Disconnect to end your session.
