How do I send and receive files using Skype on my au Android phone?

You can send and receive pictures, videos and audio files with Skype on your au Android phone.

Sending a file

To send a file:

  1. Sign in to Skype.
  2. Tap the Contacts icon.
  3. Tap a contact to view their contact card.
  4. Tap Send a file .
  5. Choose from the following options:
  • Picture: Select an existing picture.
  • Take Picture: Capture a new photo.
  • Video: Select an existing video.
  • Take Video: Capture a new video.
  • Music: Select an existing music track or record a voice message. 
  1. Select the file you want to send and tap OK.
  2. After your contact accepts the file transfer, you’ll see the progress bar until the transfer is complete. You can cancel the file transfer at any point before it finishes.

You can transfer up to 10 files at a time, but the maximum file size that you can send is 32MB.

Receiving a file

To receive a file:

  1. Sign in to Skype.
  2. When a contact tries to send you a file, a notification is displayed.
  3. Tap Accept.
  4. After you have received the file, tap the file icon to open it.
  5. A list of applications that can open the file is displayed; then select the application you want to use to open the file.
