How do I turn off notifications in Skype (Skype for modern Windows)?

With Skype for modern Windows, notifications appear in a number of ways. This makes it easy for you to see when your friends are trying to get in touch. If you need to concentrate on something else, it's also easy to turn notifications off.

The following questions and answers will help you disable notifications in Skype for modern Windows:

How do I turn off the lock screen notifications?

It's simple to turn the lock screen notifications off, however, this will prevent Skype from running in the background. To turn off lock screen notifications:

  1. Start Skype.
  2. In Skype Home, move the mouse to the bottom right corner or swipe from right to open the charms.
  3. The people list with the charms on the right side of the screen.

  4. Tap or click Settings.
  5. Settings selected from the charms on the right side of the screen.

  6. In Settings, select Permissions.
  7. Permissions selected under Settings.

  8. Under Notifications, drag the slider to Off.
     
  9. The lock screen notifications disabled by dragging the slider to Off.

How do I turn off the instant message sound notifications?

It’s easy to turn off the sound notifications informing you about the instant messages you received:

  1. Repeat steps 1 to 3 described above to open the Settings.
  2. Select Options.
  3. Under Notifications, drag the slider to disable the Incoming IM sound (in app).
  4. You can also turn off IM notification sounds only for the current conversation by dragging the slider to disable Mute IM sound in current chat.
  5. The sound instant message notifications disabled by dragging the slider to No.

How do I turn off all the other notifications?

If you don’t want to see anything when you receive an instant message or call, you can turn off the rest of your notifications. To turn off notifications:

  1. Start Skype.
  2. In Skype Home, move the mouse to the bottom right corner or swipe from right to open the charms, then tap or click Settings.
  3. In Settings, tap or click Permissions.
  4. Under Notifications, drag the slider to Off.
