Ready to add contacts? The sections below will show you how to add contacts to Skype for Windows RT.
The person is added to your contacts, but will appear offline until they accept your request. After they’ve accepted your request, you can see when they are online and make free voice and video calls with them.
To find a contact in Skype quickly:
If you can’t see the contact you’re looking for in the list, tap or click the search directory button to search the Skype Directory. If you find a person you want, click or tap the contact's name, then click or tap Add Contact to send them a contact request.
To accept a contact request:
If you can’t find the contact request you’re looking for, but you’re sure that it’s been sent, try to check again a bit later as it may take a little time to arrive. Keep in mind that the contact request text may have been personalized, and will appear as a normal chat message.
Select the type of number (mobile, other, home or office).
To change the country code of the number you are about to enter, select the corresponding country by clicking the country code (+1 in the example below) and selecting the correct country from the list.
Enter the number (without the country code) and tap or click save.
The contact is now displayed under people.
If you can’t see the option to remove contacts, update your Skype for Windows RT to the latest version.
If you sign in to Skype with your Microsoft account, your Messenger buddies are added to your Skype contact list automatically.
If you want to add Messenger contacts that aren't in your contact list, simply search for them by their Skype name (example live:<messenger contact>, where <messenger contact> is their Messenger name).
Currently, you can’t add new Facebook in Skype for Windows RT. However, you can get the desktop version of Skype on Windows 8 so you can enjoy all Skype features.
You can’t import contacts in Skype for Windows RT.
If you’ve had a Skype account before and can’t find your contacts when you’re signed in to Skype for Windows RT, chances are that you’ve created a brand new Skype account and merged it with your Microsoft account when you first signed in to Skype for Windows RT.
To resolve this issue, simply unlink the accounts, and then merge your Microsoft account with the Skype account where you have all your contacts. You will find all your contacts in Skype Home under people.
