How do I update my status, mood message and profile picture in Skype for Windows RT?

With Skype, it’s easy to keep your profile up to date.

By changing your status, mood message and profile picture, you can let them know whether you’re available to talk, what you’ve been up to and what you look like (if they haven’t seen you for a while).

Setting your status

To set up your status in Skype for Windows RT:

  1. Start Skype.
  2. Select your profile in the top right corner of Skype Home to bring up your profile menu.

  3. Select available if you want to appear as online to your contacts or invisible if you want to appear as unavailable. The invisible setting on your profile works just like your phone – you can still receive messages but your contacts will not know you’re around- so you can respond at any time. From your profile, you can easily switch between available and invisible any time you want.

Editing your mood message

To edit your mood message in Skype for Windows RT:

  1. Start Skype.
  2. Tap or click your profile icon to bring up the profile side bar.

  3. Tap or click in the mood message box and enter your message. To liven up your mood message, you can add an emoticon from the emoticons menu.

  4. Your mood message is updated.

Changing your profile picture

To change your profile picture in Skype for Windows RT:

  1. Start Skype.
  2. Tap or click your profile icon to bring up the profile side bar.

  3. Select your profile picture.
  4. Go to a folder where you have the picture you’d like to use and select the picture. The picture you’ve just selected appears as ticked. In the bottom right corner of the screen, tap or click Open.

  5. The new picture is now displayed as your profile picture.
