Sending SMS text messages (iPad)

You can send text messages using Skype for iPad at the same great Skype rates you get when using Skype on your computer - all you need is a little Skype Credit or a subscription.

Sending SMS text messages using the dial pad

It’s easy to send an SMS text message using the dial pad:

Dial Pad with SMS icon selected

  1. Sign in to Skype.
  2. Tap the dial pad icon.
  3. Enter the number you’d like to send an SMS text message to, then tap the SMS icon.
  4. Enter your message and tap Send.

Unfortunately, the person you sent the SMS text message to won’t be able to reply you on Skype.

Sending SMS text messages to a contact´s mobile or landline

To send an SMS text message to your Skype contact’s mobile or landline number:

  1. Sign in to Skype.
  2. Tap the contact you’d like to send an SMS text message to. Their profile displays.
  3. Tap More, then select SMS.
  4. Enter your message and tap Send.

This works only if your contact has their mobile or landline number attached to their Skype profile. If you don’t see the SMS option available, use the dial pad to enter the phone number manually. Unfortunately, the person you sent the SMS text message to won’t be able to reply you on Skype.
