Sending SMS text messages (Android tablets)

You can send text messages using Skype for Android tablets at the same great Skype rates you get when using Skype on your computer. All you need is a little Skype Credit.

Sending a text message to mobiles or landlines

To send a text message to a Skype contact’s mobile or landline number:

  1. Sign in to Skype.
  2. Select the contact you’d like to text and tap the plus button .
  3. Choose Send via SMS

  1. Enter your message in the text field and tap the send icon  The send icon.

If you can’t see the Send via SMS option, it means that your contact doesn’t have any phone number attached to their profile. Use the dial pad to enter the phone number manually. Unfortunately, the person you sent the SMS text message to won’t be able to reply you on Skype.

Sending a text message to a saved number

To send a text message to a phone number that’s saved in your contact list:

  1. Sign in to Skype.
  2. In your contact list, select the name of your mobile or landline number contact.
  3. Enter your message in the text field and tap the send icon  The send icon.

Unfortunately, the person you sent the SMS text message to won’t be able to reply you on Skype.
