Calling mobiles and landlines (Windows Phone 7)

Have you downloaded Skype and joined us? Then you’re ready to get calling.

With Skype for Windows Phone 7, you can make low cost calls to mobiles and landlines with just a little Skype Credit or a subscription. Use the dial pad to enter a phone number, or call a number from your contact's profile when they are offline in Skype.

To call a mobile or landline number using the dial pad:

  1. Start Skype.
  2. Tap the dial pad icon .
  3. Enter the phone number (including the country code).
  4. Tap call.

In Skype for Windows Phone 7, the country code is automatically set to your phone’s current location. If you want to change the country code, click the country flag and choose the country.

To call a Skype contact’s mobile or landline number:

  1. Start Skype.
  2. Select a contact from the contact list.
  3. Tap the call icon .
  4. Tap Call phone and select one of the phone numbers.

If this option is not available, it means that the contact doesn’t have a mobile or landline number attached to their profile.

To call one of your Windows Phone phonebook numbers:

  1. Start Skype.
  2. In your contact list, under contacts, tap all.
  3. Select phonebook.
  4. Select the contact you’d like to call.
  5. Tap the call icon .

Only the contacts in your native address book with phone numbers that include a valid country code will be shown in the contact list so you may wish to update your phonebook contacts’ numbers to include country codes for future easy use.

You’ll need a little Skype Credit or a subscription to call a phonebook contact.
