Calling mobiles and landlines (Windows Phone 8)

Have you downloaded Skype and joined us? Then you’re ready to get calling.

With Skype for Windows Phone 8, you can make low cost calls to mobiles and landlines. All you need is a little Skype Credit or a subscription.

You can also view and manage your Skype Credit directly from your Windows Phone.




To call a mobile or landline number using the dial pad:

The dial pad with the call button below it.

  1. Start Skype.
  2. Tap the call button Call button.. This opens the dial pad.
  3. Select the country you’re making a call to from the drop-down list, then enter the phone number.
  4. Tap the green call button below the dial pad.

To call a Skype contact’s mobile or landline number:

  1. Start Skype.
  2. Under people, select a contact.
  3. Tap the call button Call button..
  4. Select the phone number you’d like to call.

If you don’t see a mobile or landline number, the contact doesn’t have a mobile or landline number attached to their profile.

To call someone in your Windows Phone phonebook:

The “all” option selected under people.

  1. Start Skype.
  2. Make sure that all contacts are displayed in your people list.
  3. Select the phonebook contact you’d like to call.
  4. Tap the call button Call button..

Before you make a call to your mobile or landline contact, make sure you add an appropriate country code to their phone number.

To view and manage your Skype Credit balance on Windows Phone 8:

  1. Start Skype.
  2. Tap your profile picture. Your Skype Credit balance is displayed along with other profile information.
  3. Tap the credit line. This launches the web browser where you can sign in and choose the amount of Skype Credit you’d like to add to your account.

You can also buy Skype Credit by visiting from your mobile browser. Tap Buy Skype Credit, sign in with your Skype Name and password and follow the instructions to complete your purchase.
