How do I turn off automatic updates in Skype for Windows RT?

Automatic updates are the easiest way to keep Skype for Windows RT up-to-date. They’re turned on by default but it’s easy to turn them off:

  1. In the Start screen, tap or click the Store tile. The Windows Store opens.

The Store tile in the Skype for Windows 8 Start screen.

  1. Swipe from the right edge of the screen, or move your mouse to the upper or bottom right corner, to bring up the charms.

The Settings charm displayed on the right side of the Microsoft Store screen.

  1. Select Settings > App updates.
  2. Under App updates, drag the slider to turn the setting off. You’ll see No displayed next to the slider when the setting is turned off.

The App updates setting with the slider for turning the setting on and off.

Important: The App updates setting turns off the automatic updates for all Windows Store apps.

You can turn the automatic updates back on the same way you turned them off. Simply drag the slider under App updates. You’ll see Yes displayed next to the slider when the setting is turned on.
