How do I link my Microsoft Office 365 account with my Skype account?

When you link your Microsoft Office 365 Home Premium or Office 365 University account with your Skype account, you can enjoy 60 minutes of free calls to mobiles and landlines every month, in more than 60 countries worldwide.

How do I link my Microsoft Office 365 account with my Skype account?

It’s easy to link your accounts and start making calls with your Skype world minutes:

  1. Sign in to Office 365 with your Microsoft account.
  2. In the Services and products section, under Skype, click Activate your Skype world minutes. The activation page is displayed.
  3. In the activation page:

    • If you already have a Skype account, simply select Activate and sign in to your account.
    • If you don’t have a Skype account, click Create Skype account under New to Skype? and follow the instructions to join Skype.
  1. After you sign in to Skype, it takes a few minutes to activate your Skype world minutes. When the activation is complete, you’ll see a message saying “Your Skype world minutes are ready” at the top of the My Account screen.
  2. That’s it - you’re ready to make calls using your Skype world minutes subscription!

How can I make sure that my Skype world minutes subscription has been activated?

To make sure that your Skype world minutes subscription has been activated, check your Skype account. In the subscriptions section in the left pane, under World minutes for Office 365, you’ll find the information with the used and remaining minutes.

I linked my Microsoft Office 365 account with the wrong Skype account. What should I do?

If you've linked the wrong accounts and would like to link your Office 365 account with a different Skype account, follow these steps:

  1. Follow the instruction on the Office 365 deactivation page and click Deactivate.1
    You’ll see the message saying “Your Skype world minutes have been deactivated” at the top of the My account screen. Once the deactivation is done, the accounts are unlinked.
  2. Follow the steps to activate your Skype world minutes as described above and use the correct Skype account to link with your Office 365 account.

Is the Skype world minutes subscription available with any Microsoft Office 365 account?

The Skype world minutes subscription is available only with Microsoft Office 365 Home Premium or Office 365 University account. It is not included in the Microsoft Office 365 business or Preview accounts.

Do I have to pay anything extra to use Skype world minutes?

No, you don’t have to pay anything extra to use Skype world minutes, as it comes as part of the Microsoft Office 365 Home Premium and Office 365 University.

Yes. Skype lets you benefit from all your subscriptions and uses them in the following order:

  • By plan type – unlimited2 subscriptions are used first, and limited ones are used afterwards.
  • By expiry date – subscriptions’ minutes with the nearest expiry date are used first.

What countries can I make calls from and to, using my Skype world minutes?

With Skype world minutes, you can make calls to over 60 countries.

Calling non-geographic numbers, special or premium numbers is not covered by the Skype world minutes subscription. No emergency calls can be made with Skype.

You can use Skype world minutes to make calls from any country in the world except the following: Algeria, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bahrain, Bangladesh, Belarus, China, Cote d’Ivoire, Egypt, Ghana, India, Kazakhstan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Libya, Morocco, Namibia, Pakistan, Qatar, Russia, Tunisia, UAE, Taiwan and Korea.

Can I use Skype to make a call to a country not included in my Skype world minutes subscription?

Skype lets you easily reach your friends, family and colleagues anywhere in the world – you can call them on Skype, or reach them on their mobile or landline.
