Sending and receiving files in Skype 3.2 for BlackBerry 10
Skype for BlackBerry 10 lets you send photos, videos and other files to any of your Skype contacts for free*. You can also receive files your contacts send you and store them.
*Mobile operator data charges may apply.
To send a file:
- Start Skype.
- Tap Contacts.
- Select the contact you’d like to send a file to, then tap More > Send file.
- Select the application you’d like to use to find or create the file. The file will be sent as soon as the recipient accepts the transfer.
To receive a file:
If your contact sends you a file, the file transfer request will be displayed alongside your call history, voice messages and instant messages.
The easiest way to find and accept file transfer requests is to select Recent from the Skype’s main menu. Any files waiting to be transferred are labeled as incoming file.
To get the file, simply tap the transfer request and select Accept to start the download. Videos and photos will be saved to your gallery; anything else is saved to your downloads folder.
You can send and receive any type of file over Skype for BlackBerry 10 and you can view any file you receive as long as you have the necessary software or app installed. There are no limits on the size of the file you can send. As long as the person you’re sending the file to has enough free storage space on their phone, they can save and store the file.
To view a file you’ve received, you don’t need to close Skype. You can have Skype running in the background while you’re viewing the file.
Currently, it is not possible to send files to your Messenger and Facebook buddies. To be able to send files to your Messenger and Facebook friends, you need to merge your accounts.
