Why does Skype for Amazon Kindle Fire sign out automatically?

Skype for Amazon Kindle Fire signs out after a period of inactivity to extend battery life. The preset time periods of inactivity are as follows:

  • On Kindle Fire HD, Skype disconnects after 30 minutes of inactivity.

However, if you prefer to stay signed in, it’s easy to change the default settings. To do so, simply go to Settings > General Settings > Offline and select your preferred period of time.
If you want to be always available for your Skype contacts so they can reach you at any time, you can set the timeout to Never.
