How do I disable spell check in Skype for Windows Desktop?

You might notice Skype attempting to correct your spelling, even though you know you’re spelling everything right in your language. Select your Windows version for steps to turn off the spell-check feature in Skype:

Windows 8.1

  1. Move your cursor to the top-right corner of the screen (or, for touchscreens, swipe down from the top-right corner to bring up the Charms menu.
  2. Click or tap Settings.


     
  3. Click or tap the Change PC Settings link at the bottom of the screen.


     
  4. On the Control Panel page, tap or click PC & Devices, then click Typing.
  5. Change the sliders for Autocorrect misspelled words and Highlight misspelled words to Off.

 


Windows 10

  1. From the Start menu, click or tap Settings
  2. Tap or click Devices, then click Typing
  3. Change the sliders for Autocorrect misspelled words and Highlight misspelled words to Off.


Note: The spell-check function in Skype is based on your keyboard input language (not the display language or the keyboard layout). If you want to change your input language, check out this handy guide.
