I heard that Skype had been discontinued on the 3 network, is this true?

Unfortunately, Skype on 3 is no longer available in the following countries:

  • Australia
  • Austria
  • Denmark
  • Hong Kong
  • Italy
  • Sweden

However, it is still available and will work as normal over the 3 network in Ireland and the UK. Some versions of the application such as those named “iskoot”, will also be discontinued. We recommend you contact 3 directly to see which version you have on your phone.

If you are in one of the countries where Skype on 3 has been discontinued, we have plenty of other mobile solutions to suit your needs. Visit the Skype for your mobile webpage for more details and to see if your phone is compatible.

Alternatively, you may be able to set up Skype To Go™ numbers to use on your mobile. Skype To Go allows you to make calls to friends and family abroad at great Skype rates, and it’s free to set up.

Check to see if Skype To Go is available where you are, or sign in to your account to set some up.

You will need a little Skype Credit or a subscription to use Skype To Go.
