How do I call mobiles and landlines in Skype for Windows Desktop?

You can easily dial a phone number using the dial pad in Skype, just like on any phone:

Sign into Skype

Click the Call phones icon.

If you're calling abroad, enter the country code (for example, +1 for the United States), or click the country drop-down above the dial pad and select a country from the list.

Enter the phone number (or click the numbers on the dial pad) and click the blue Call button .

If you call this number regularly, click the Add to Contacts button under the dial pad. In the box that pops up, enter a name for the number and click Save.

Next time you want to call this number, just look it up in your contact list so you don't have to type it in again.

 

It’s easy to call a phone number that you’ve dialed just recently:

Sign into Skype.

Click the call phones icon.

In the Enter number box, click the recent numbers button.

Select the number you want to call.

If a contact has saved a phone number in their profile, or if you’ve added a number to a contact, then it’s easy to call them when they’re not on Skype. You can either find the contact in your contact list, or type their name using the dial pad.

To call from your contact list:

Sign into Skype.

2 Click the Contacts tab, then find and click the contact you want to call. You’ll see their details in the main window.

Click the blue Call button. If you have a mobile and/or landline number saved for that contact, you'll be able to choose on which number you want to call them.

Click the number you want to call. Remember that you'll need a subscription or some Skype Credit to call a mobile or landline number.

To call from the dial pad:

Sign into Skype.

Click the call phones icon.

Type the name of the contact you want to call. A list of possible contact names and numbers is displayed.

Select the contact you'd like to call.

Click the blue Call button.  The green call button.

To add a number to a contact:

Sign into Skype.

Click the Contacts tab, then find and click the person you want to add a number for. Click the profile picture to bring up that contact's profile.

Click the Add Number link in your contact's profile.

Select the type of number (Mobile, Home, Office or Other), change the country flag if you need to, and type the phone number into the box.

Click the tick icon or press Enter. The number is saved.
