Help Windows Desktop

How do I use a webcam with Skype?

If you've just gotten a new webcam and need to get it to work with Skype, follow the steps below.

  1. Connect the webcam to your computer per the manufacturer instructions.
  2. Your computer should automatically install the software for the webcam (or you might need to install it via a manufacturer-provided disc).
  3. Once the software has finished installing, open Skype.
  4. To check to see if your webcam is working properly:
  • In Skype for Windows Desktop, click Tools > Options > Video Settings. If you can see yourself in the video window, you're all set.

  • If you use Skype for Windows RT, check your camera in the Windows RT Camera application.
