How can I make myself searchable in Skype for Android?

When you download the newest version of Skype for Android phones or tablets, whether you're a new or existing user, you'll be asked to verify your mobile number in order to automatically add friends to Skype. Skype will use this information to verify your contact details and automatically add friends in your address book who are also on Skype.

To make yourself searchable in the newest version of Skype:

  1. Start Skype.
  2. Tap the device's menu button or tap the menu icon .
  3. From your profile, scroll down to the bottom and tap Settings.
  4. Tap Manage how people find me.
  5. In the privacy screen, you can use the checkbox to determine whether or not Skype can use your mobile number to access your Android address book:
  6. If you don't have a verified phone number yet, you can tap Add phone number on this screen and enter your phone number.

You can also turn on or off the suggested contacts feature:

  1. Start Skype.
  2. Tap the device's menu button or tap the menu icon .
  3. From your profile, scroll down to the bottom and tap Settings.
  4. Tap Automatically add friends.
  5. Tap Use my address book to allow Skype to suggest contacts and automatically add friends, or tap Don't use my address book to turn off the suggested contacts feature.
  6. Tap OK once you've made your selection.
