In Skype 6 for iOS on your iPhone/iPod touch or iPad, we ask you to verify your phone number if you want to automatically add people from your address book who are also on Skype. Skype will use this information to verify your contact details and allow others to find you on Skype. By verifying your contact details, we can help ensure that we're adding the right people when automatically adding friends.
To verify your number, confirm that your mobile number as displayed is correct, then tap the arrow to continue. Skype will verify by sending you an SMS message as part of the verification process, then let you know when it's done:
Next, Skype will search your device's contacts for people you know who are already on Skype.
Suggested contacts will be displayed in your contact list, and you'll need to invite them to connect on Skype before you can chat with or call them. If one of your iPhone/iPad address book contacts is also using this feature and knows you (we've verified both of your contact details), they will automatically be added as a contact on Skype.
