    Q: I want to try the new experience.  How do I sign up for the Skype for Windows 10 preview Insiders program?
    A: Anyone on Windows 10 can sign up for the Skype for Windows 10 Insiders program. You can sign up to try the preview builds of Skype for Windows 10 through the following steps:  

    Skype for Windows 10 application (version 12)

    1. Launch Skype for Windows 10.
    2. Navigate to the application settings.
    3. Select Join preview under the Skype Apps Preview setting.


    Skype for Windows 10 application (version 14)

    1. Launch Skype for Windows 10.
    2. Navigate to the Application settings.
    3. Navigate to Help and Feedback.
    4. Select Join preview under the Skype Apps Preview setting.   


    Q: How do I know if I have the latest version?
    A: Check your version number. In Skype, select your profile then scroll down and click About. The latest version of Skype for Windows 10 is application version of 14.x.  If you are on application version of 12.x or below then you have not been upgraded to the latest version yet.

    Q: How do I leave my feedback about the new Insiders build?
    A: Your comments and feedback are crucial for us to improve the Skype for Windows 10 experience before we open it up to a wider audience.  Please leave your feedback by selecting the Report a problem option in our menu or by leaving feedback within the Feedback Hub application.

    Q: I’ve signed up for the Skype for Windows 10 Insiders preview program.  How do I get the updated builds now?
    A: Your build will be updated through the Store like any other Store update.  It may take up to 24 hours after you sign-up before you receive the update.

    Q: Which version of Skype should I use on Windows 10?
    A: For Windows 10 users, we offer Skype for Windows 10 which is the recommended version as with this you will experience OS-integrated features that make it easier for you to share with people and groups from across the Windows 10 platform, including:   

    • Windows Share Charm.
    • My People.
    • Windows Mixed Reality.

    Q: When I update to the latest Skype for Windows 10 Insiders build, will my history, contacts or credits be impacted?
    A: If you were using Skype for Windows 10 (version 12), your contacts, history and credits will not be impacted when you update to the latest Insiders release.  The update behaves like any other Store update. All your account information will be preserved.

    If you were using another version of Skype before you update to the latest Insiders release then your history will continue to be available on your machine, but only history from the last year will be displayed in the updated client.  History older than a year is only stored locally on your machine and is not backed up in the cloud.  We recommend that you export and save it to your own cloud storage location.  Please check which version of Skype you are using before you update to the latest Skype for Windows 10 Preview release. 

    Q: I have a Windows Phone.  How can I get the latest Insiders builds?
    A: Skype for Windows 10 (version 14) is not supported on Windows Phone. We will continue to support Skype for Windows 10 (version 12) for existing Windows Phone users.

    Q: What happened to SMS sync for Windows Phone?
    A: SMS sync for Windows Phone is not supported on Skype for Windows 10 (version 14).  You can continue to use Skype for Windows 10 (version 12) as your default messaging application on your Windows Phone.

    Q: How do I leave the program?
    A: You can leave the Skype for Windows 10 preview program by navigating to your Skype Apps Preview setting within Skype and selecting Leave preview. You will need to uninstall Skype and reinstall it from the Store to immediately receive an older build.
