Finding your way around Skype Preview for Windows 10

Have you joined Skype yet? Then you're ready to get started.

Skype Preview is already installed on Windows 10 Anniversary Update. To start Skype Preview, select the Start menu from the bottom left of your screen. In the list of available applications, scroll down to Skype Preview and click to open it. For easier access to Skype Preview, you can Pin it to Start or Pin it to your taskbar.

This guide will help you find your way around Skype Preview after you open it and sign in.

A. Main Menu button: View all the icons and their descriptions available in the sidebar.
B. Recent Conversations: Find your recent conversations, received messages and files.
C. Contacts: Find all of your contacts, add new contacts, and add or remove favorites.
D. Bots: Go through the list of available Skype bots or use the search field to find the one you want.
E. Help: Navigate easily to Skype Support.
F. Settings: Manage your Skype settings.
G. Profile icon: Access your profile, edit your mood message, change your status, add Skype credit, sign out or access your account.

Contact summary - Displayed when you select a contact. Tells you your friend's status and mood message. To see more details about your friend, select their name and a pop-up with their full profile information is displayed.
I. Call buttons - Use these buttons to video call, voice call or add more people to create a group conversation.

J. Conversation window - Displayed when you select a contact or set up a group chat. Shows your instant message conversation and call history with that contact or group.
K. Conversation box - Displayed when you select a contact or set up a group chat. Use this box to type and send your instant messages, emoticons, Mojis and SMS messages.

L. Show dial pad: Use the dial pad to call mobile and landlines. You’ll need a little Skype Credit or a subscription to do so.
M. New conversation: Select the icon to start a new conversation that anyone can join.
N. See More: Select to go to AboutSend feedback and What's New.

O. Find contact: Search the Skype directory to find and add new contacts.
P. New contact: Create a new contact of your own with their name and phone number.
