Help Skype Preview for Windows 10

How do I create and share a new conversation in Skype Preview for Windows 10?

You can create and share conversations with your friends, or anyone, even if they're not on Skype.

  1. In Skype Preview, select the  icon to Create a new conversation that anyone can join, under the Recent tab.

  2. Add people to the conversation from the contact list on the right of the conversation window.

  3. You can either type the name of a contact you want to add in the search field or select the person from the list of contacts.

  4. Repeat this process for as many contacts as you wish to add to the conversation. If you want to carry on an existing conversation, you don't need to create a new one - jump into the existing conversation with that person.

  5. You can copy the link for others you want to add to the conversation, even if they're not on Skype, by clicking copy link (either on the add contacts screen or at the top of your conversation by clicking Share conversation).

  6. If they're not on Skype, they can join as a guest user, and as the administrator, you can remove them from the conversation as needed.  You can also choose to email an invitation to anyone by selecting the email button.

To customize your conversation settings, select the conversation name at the top of the window or select the  More button at the top right of the window and select View Profile.

There are several settings you can customize in the conversation profile:

  • Select the conversation title to change it.

  • Disable conversation notifications by unchecking Notify me when something new happens.

  • Make chat history available to everyone by switching the toggle On. Anyone joining the group chat will be able to see the conversation history.

  • By default, your conversation is open for anyone to join who has the link. You can prevent people joining your chat by switching the toggle to Off under Make a link for anyone to join. Anyone who is already in your conversation will remain in your chat.
