    Updating Skype on Windows 10

    Back to search results

I received notice that Skype version 7 is no longer supported. I use Skype on a Windows 10 device. What does this mean for me?

First you need to verify the version number of Skype you have been using.

    If you are using:

    • Application version 12 or higher of Skype for Windows 10: you’re all set, and you do not need to update.
    • Application version 11 of Skype for Windows 10: you need to update to the latest version through the Microsoft Store. Application version 11 of Skype for Windows 10 is no longer supported.
    • Skype version 7 for Windows desktop: you should update to Skype version 8 to keep your local chat history and to be able to export it. Learn more how to update and export the history file.
