    How do I turn live captions & subtitles on during a Skype call?

    Live captions & subtitles in Skype let you read the words that are spoken during an audio or video call. Live captions & subtitles are available in Skype on Android (6.0+), Android tablet, iPhone, iPad, Windows, Mac, Linux, Web, and Skype for Windows 10 (version 14).

    To turn live captions & subtitles on in Skype:

    1. During an audio or video call, select the more more button button. 
    2. Select Turn subtitles on

    To view your subtitle history during a call, select the chevron above where your subtitles are shown and a side panel on desktop or call history panel on mobile will open displaying your subtitle history for that call. 
     

    1. Select your profile picture.
    2. Select Settings.
    3. Select Calling
    4. Select Call subtitles
    5. Toggle on Show subtitles for all voice and video calls. Toggle Only Show subtitles for other participants on if you only want to see subtitles for other participants and not for yourself.

      Note: When subtitles are enabled, touch tone will not work. 
    1. During an audio or video call, select the more more button button. 
    2. Select Turn subtitles off
    1. Select your profile picture.
    2. Select Settings.
    3. Select Calling
    4. Select Call subtitles
    5. Next to Subtitle language, select Spoken language and then choose your language from the list.

      Note: In Skype for Windows 10 (version 14) and Web, your subtitle language is automatically set to your device's language. If you would like to change it, click on the Language settings link in Call subtitles to customize your language.
