Is phone authentication available for all Skype users in Canada?

Currently, phone authentication is available only in Canada , with Canadian phone number. Please come back later to check the status of this feature in Skype.

I didn't receive the one-time code via SMS when signing up. What could be the reason?

If you didn't receive the one-time code during sign-up, it's possible that your carrier may be blocking our SMS. Some carriers, including TextNow in Canada have restrictions or limitations that prevent the timely delivery of one-time code messages. In such cases, try using a different phone number or sign up with your email, which doesn't require SMS verification. If you continue to experience issues, please reach out to our support team for further assistance.

What should I do if I encounter issues with phone authentication?

If you experience difficulties with phone authentication, ensure that your phone number is correctly entered and that you have a stable internet connection. If issues persist, please try logging in with your Skype name, email or create a new account.

Can I use phone authentication when I'm traveling outside of Canada?

Phone authentication will work internationally for Canadian registered phone numbers, but standard SMS or call charges may apply. Ensure your phone has international roaming enabled to receive one-time code.

Can I switch between phone authentication and Microsoft account login?

Yes, you have the flexibility to switch between Skype phone authentication and Microsoft account login whenever you prefer. To do this, simply locate the "Use email or Skype name" button during the login process. Clicking on this button will transition you to the Microsoft login page, allowing you to log in using your Microsoft account credentials.

These 2 log-in flows are not interchangeable. For full access of Skype features with Microsoft account, follow steps as described here.
