How do I change my password?

It’s easy to change your password. How you change it depends on how you sign in to Skype.

If you use a username (that doesn’t contain the @ symbol) and password, then you sign in with a Skype Name.

If you use an email address and password (the same one you use for other Microsoft devices or services) then you sign in with a Microsoft account.

If you use your Facebook email/phone number and password, then you sign in with your Facebook account.

Choose one of the options below to change your password.

  1. Use this link to sign into your account.
  2. Next to Skype account, click Change password:


     
  3. Type your old password, then type your new one twice in the fields provided.
  4. Click Save.

Forgotten your password? Go to the password recovery page to reset it. You’ll need to know your registered email address to do this. If you don’t know your registered email address, we can help.

If you’ve tried the steps above but still can’t sign in to your account, contact Skype Customer Service.
 

If you use your Microsoft account to sign in to Skype you can change your password on the Microsoft site. Just sign in to your Microsoft account and click Change password. This changes the password wherever you use your Microsoft account, not just Skype.

You need to know your existing password to change it. Forgotten your password? Go to the password recovery page to reset it.

If you use your Facebook login details to sign in to Skype, you can change your password on the Facebook site.
