If you see a "Sorry we couldn't connect to Skype", "Skype can't connect" or "Unable to receive notifications" message when you try to use Skype, the most likely cause is a poor internet connection, or no internet connection.

To fix this issue, try the following:

    • Make sure your mobile device is not offline.

    • Check your internet connectivity by opening any other web page. If you can read this page from your mobile device, you’re connected.

    • Switch from cellular mobile data to Wi-Fi to ensure you have enough bandwidth.

    • Download the latest version of Skype. If you need help with downloading, check this article and select the operating system you use.

    • If you’re using an Android device, make sure you haven’t blocked internet access to the Skype app. Learn more * about blocking internet access on Android apps.

    • Change your password. If you’re not sure how to change your password, this article will tell you how.

    • In order to receive notifications, you need to be connected, signed in, and have notifications enabled in the app, on your device and allowed by the network you are connected to.

If you’ve tried the tips above and you’re not back up and running, the Skype Community has lots of helpful information. Start with a search for your question – chances are, the answer’s already there.
