What are Skype cookies?

Cookies are little pieces of information that Skype, or your internet browser, may store on your computer's hard drive. Cookies enable Skype to:

  • Recognize you and your preferences
  • Tailor Skype web content for individual users
  • Gain information about how people use our websites
  • Help us to improve our products and websites

This information may be analyzed by third parties on our behalf, but your details are not sold on to anyone else.

The Help menu on the toolbar of most browsers will tell you how to prevent your browser from accepting new cookies, how to have the browser notify you when you receive a new cookie, and how to disable cookies altogether.

To disable Skype browser cookies, open Skype and select Skype > Privacy, and then uncheck the box that says Accept Skype Browser Cookies. Click on Save.

Please bear in mind that if you choose to disable cookies, some personalized services may not be available.
